WHEN AIRBUS ANNOUNCES ITS FUTURE FACTORY

airbus usine future gsf
If we want to imagine what the next generation factory will look like in ten years, we can check out what is happening at the Airbus factory in Toulouse. Plane assembly in 2025 will take place in a high-tech factory with cutting-edge technologies currently in development or already being used: laser-targeting with RFID* for adjusting parts, cobot (collaborative robot) and augmented reality for operators, liquid electronic circuits integrated in the fuselage, crab robots for riveting, circular gantries for automated painting, tablets for guiding the assembly stages. Production costs and production time could be reduced by half! The cleaning, or rather extreme-cleaning, of such a factory must be of the same calibre! *An RFID chip (Radio Frequency Identification) is a computer chip connected to an antenna for remote activation by a reader and communication with said reader.

COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY

At the end of 2014, at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, the GSF Group marked its companies’ commitment to cultural, ethnic and social diversity. By signing the diversity charter, GSF is pursuing its voluntary commitment to an economy that celebrates pluralism and diversity. This is a continuation of GSF’s membership of the Global Compact in 2005.

SUPPORTING YOHANN QUILLIOU, PARALYMPIC SPORTSMAN

For two years, the Group has been sponsoring this tennis player who has set his sights on his dream: the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016. A partnership to help him achieve a world ranking, which will then open the doors to the Olympic Games. Yohann Quilliou also helps the Group by talking about the challenges of disability in the workplace. On the back of his professional experience at Areva and his great sporting achievements, he recently came to GSF head office to meet all the managers.

A REMARKABLE FORAY INTO THE NUCLEAR SECTOR

GSF Energia, CEFRI certified in 2010 and DEA certified in 2011, is now working at Dampierre. The EDF power station has awarded the Group management of the cleaning, nuclear logistics and stock management for the nuclear electric power station. The contract’s signature was achieved through the creation of an association with NUVIA, with whom GSF responded to the bid.

ORLÉANS HOSPITAL CHOOSES GSF

hopital GSF
It will be one of the biggest and most modern hospitals in France. At the cutting-edge of technology, this hospital is pioneering the medicine of tomorrow. GSF is heavily invested in this field and has dedicated a great deal of energy and time to win this contract. It is a great victory and fabulous recognition of the expertise acquired and developed by the Orléans teams and the Group’s R&D experts. Around one hundred people will be recruited and trained over the next few months.

BUILDINGS INVADED BY GREEN

bâtiment vegetal gsf
Will the city of the future be predominantly green? It’s highly likely. Many buildings now include green spaces and gardens. Health challenges with poor air quality in living and working spaces and the presence, for example, of planted walls to purify air. Patios with trees and shrubs to meet environmental challenges. People are also starting to discuss the creation of new towns designed as ecological towns, environmentally friendly, optimising and protecting resources which prioritise significant areas for gardens and green spaces.

AGRICULTURE INVADES BUILDINGS

In Chicago, kitchen gardens are planted on the rooftops. There are over 200, representing around 23 hectares of agriculture in the city centre! The future will also include vertical farms. Rather than horizontal agriculture, the concept is more one of vertical expansion by refusing the use of destructive chemicals in soils, an element specific to traditional agriculture, and replace it with above-ground farming. Buildings have not finished evolving and we must anticipate and adapt.

CUTTING-EDGE TRAINING IN HOSPITALS

formation-hopital-gsf

In this sector, the GSF Group offers its inspectors a complete training course. A cutting-edge apprenticeship to perfect employee knowledge in a vital environment. A technical platform has been installed for this purpose at the GSF University in Vallauris, next to the Group’s head office in Sophia Antipolis. This platform has an operating theatre and research laboratory with professional equipment. A “hospital room” area has also been created with an adjoining bathroom. Everything is identical to the hospital environment, so that employees can discover real-life conditions. Every apprentice follows week-long theory and practical training courses.

WORK/STUDY APPRENTICESHIPS +16%

alternance gsf
Anticipating the future means carefully crafting apprenticeships at GSF. For several years now, a Work/Study Division has been established to increase the number of new apprentices on this training scheme. At the end of 2014, 500 apprentices had joined the Group. An increase of 16% in one year. Efforts are continuing to develop their numbers at GSF. Amongst the many advantages of this system, GSF would like to highlight two. Firstly, the apprentice has the time to learn and master their role, which is a keen advantage when it comes to recruitment.  Secondly, the apprentice who does not join the Group but who has had quality training will be an excellent ambassador for the Group!

THE FUNDAMENTALS : THE DIFFERENCE

GSF University has just added a module to its training programme dedicated to GSF Fundamentals, which have ensured the significant success of the Group for over 50 years... Its continued growth increases the number of employees encouraging many new recruits and the “Fundamentals” module is a reminder of the basic rules. This is a participative day during which people discuss the organisation, behaviour, safety, acts and movements, discretion, corporate spirit, customer communication, site knowledge, quality controls, services and more. The range of subjects covered is as broad as the purpose : satisfy customers and employees who have all the resources necessary to carry out their work.
